Pay

The expected salary for this position is between $88,000 - $96,000. Offers are based on factors such as relevant education, experience, tenure status, internal equity, and market and organizational considerations.

About the Role

The History Department of Washington and Lee University (W&L) invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Medieval European History (ca. 500 to 1500), to begin in July 2027. Special consideration will be given to candidates whose scholarship and teaching engage with legal history, and who specialize in geographical areas other than Britain and France. Successful applicants will be expected to teach introductory surveys in medieval European history and the Renaissance as well as intermediate and advanced undergraduate courses related to their areas of specialization.
