About the Role

The Department of Political Science at the University of Florida invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in International Relations, to begin in August 2026. This is a broad search seeking scholars of exceptional promise in any area of IR.

Responsibilities

  • Teach effectively at the graduate and undergraduate levels, including core courses in international relations.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Political Science (or a closely related field) by time of appointment.
  • Evidence of high-quality scholarship or strong potential for publication in leading peer-reviewed journals of political science and international relations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Candidates whose work engages with International Organizations, International Institutions, and International Relations theory.
  • Scholars whose work combines strong theoretical contributions with rigorous empirical analysis and engages broader debates in international politics.

All candidates for employment are subject to a pre-employment screening which includes a review of criminal records, reference checks, and verification of education. The selected candidate will be required to provide official transcripts to the hiring department upon hire. Degrees earned from an educational institution outside the United States require an evaluation by a professional credentialing service provider approved by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES).
