Pay

The Assistant Professor (Academic Year) classification salary is $6,221 to $13,224 per month (12 monthly payments per academic year). The anticipated hiring range is $10,916 to $11,750 per month. Salary offered is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

About the College of Business

The College of Business is a leading, dynamic urban college serving south Los Angeles County and Orange County. Business is one of the most popular fields of study on campus. About the Department

The Department of Information Systems is comprised of tenured/tenure-track faculty, full-time lecturers, and adjunct instructors who collaborate to serve the students of CSULB by offering information systems, quantitative methods, and business communication courses. Our mission is to educate capable professionals who can effectively develop, manage, and enhance business information systems for better operations and decision making. A successful information system student must excel in both in-depth understanding of business context and solid technical abilities. Requirements

  • Ph.D. in a relevant area of business from a business school with AACSB international accreditation is required. Degree at time of application or official notification of completion of the doctoral degree by August 1, 2027.
  • Candidates with a Ph.D. in an appropriate field of Engineering or Science are also encouraged to apply.
  • Demonstrate potential for effective teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels in areas such as artificial intelligence, business analytics, and cybersecurity, though candidates with other relevant teaching abilities will also be considered.
  • Demonstrated potential for research, scholarly and creative activities leading to publication and curriculum development.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population, including low socioeconomic and first-generation students.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in teaching artificial intelligence, business analytics, and cybersecurity. Information System-related teaching expertise will be considered.
  • Strong research pipelines and published research in journals of high and recognized quality in the Information System field.
  • Experience successfully working with diverse student populations, including those from a range of demographic and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Experience mentoring or supporting students using inclusive and culturally relevant teaching strategies in a diverse classroom.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate level courses. (Mode of instruction may include in-person, hybrid, online, and/or any combination thereof.)
  • Engage in research, scholarly and creative activities leading to presentations and publications.
  • Participate in service to the department, college, university, and the community.

Employment Requirements

  • A background check (including a criminal records check and telephone reference check with most recent employer) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who apply for the position.

  • Pursuant to the CSU Out of State Employment Policy, hiring employees to perform CSU-related work outside of California is prohibited effective January 1, 2022. Exceptions to the Policy are limited to approved and documented purposes for conducting CSU business outside of California.
