About the role

The Management, HR and Information Systems Area of the Orfalea College of Business at Cal Poly seeks applicants for two (2) full-time, tenure track, academic year positions at the rank of Assistant Professor in the primary area of Information Systems (IS), with appointment beginning August 17, 2026. Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience of individual selected. Appointment at the Assistant Professor rank anticipated hiring range being $135,100 - $149,300.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research in Information Systems or a closely related field
  • Teach innovative courses in Information Systems, Business Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Organizational Behavior, and Business Strategy
  • Develop and maintain a strong publication record and research pipeline
  • Establish an on-campus presence to fulfill responsibilities
  • Participate in service activities and contribute to the academic community

Requirements

  • Completed or close to completion of a doctorate or equivalent degree in Information Systems or a closely related field from an AACSB accredited institution
  • PhD/DBA awarded by time of appointment in Fall 2026
  • Demonstrate exemplary teaching, strong publication record and research pipeline, and currency in professional field

Special Conditions

  • Person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
