Computer Information Systems, Assistant Professor

About the role

The successful candidate will join the Computer Information Systems (CIS) Department at the College of Business Administration at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona). The department is seeking an Assistant Professor to begin during the Fall Semester of 2027.

Responsibilities

• Teach both undergraduate and graduate courses in the field of Artificial Intelligence applications for business, Big Data Analytics, and Client/Server Web Development.
• Develop new courses in these areas as needed.
• Conduct research leading to peer-reviewed publications.
• Contribute to the department, college, and university through service activities.

Requirements

• A minimum of a Ph.D. in Information Systems or a closely related discipline from an accredited university, with AACSB accreditation preferred.
• A terminal degree must be earned by the start of the appointment.
• Demonstrated evidence of or commitment to research resulting in peer-reviewed journal publications.
• Candidates with doctorate conferred more than 5 years ago must have at least two peer reviewed journal articles within the past five years.
• Evidence of teaching excellence, including teaching evaluations from the most recent year, if available.

Qualifications

• Academic and/or industry experience in at least one area of Artificial Intelligence applications for business, such as Agentic AI, Large Language Models, Generative AI.
• A teaching philosophy statement.

• Experience in higher education.
• Commitment to inclusive excellence and diversity in higher education.
• Experience in Big Data Analytics, Data Mining, and Client/Server Web Development.

Pay

$132,000 - $136,008 annually
