Summary Of Job Duties

The J.B. Hunt Transport Department of Supply Chain Management in the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas invites applications and nominations for two tenure-track Assistant Professor positions in Supply Chain Management, beginning August 16, 2027. These positions are part of a coordinated faculty cluster hire in supply chain management focused on contested logistics and defense-relevant supply chain research.

Qualifications

  • A completed Ph.D. in supply chain management, logistics, operations management, or a closely related field from an AACSB-accredited business school or equivalent accredited institution completed by the position start date
  • Demonstrated record or strong potential to publish research in top-tier supply chain management, logistics, operations, or business journals
  • Evidence of research that has potential relevance for both academic journals and practitioner audiences
  • Candidates must meet standards to be classified as a Scholarly Academic for AACSB purposes
  • U.S. citizen, due to access to export-controlled information, restricted federal data, and security-sensitive research environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong research record and demonstrated leadership roles in research projects that result in top-tier journal publications
  • Pipeline of research including manuscripts under second or third revision at top tier supply chain management journals
  • Experience teaching courses related to logistics, procurement, transportation, operations, analytics, or supply chain strategy
  • Research interests related to resilience and risk, supply chain visibility, analytics, robotics and automation, technology-enabled supply chains, defense and critical infrastructure supply chains, the interface between commercial and public-sector logistics systems, or other areas of strategic industry importance
  • Industry work experience in supply chain management, logistics, operations, analytics, transportation, procurement, retail, manufacturing, defense, or related field
  • An active U.S. security clearance, or eligibility to obtain and maintain one
  • Significant military, defense logistics, or national security supply chain experience

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities (KSAs)

  • High-quality oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and collegially as a contributing member of a research-active faculty team
  • Ability to engage with industry professionals, firms, public-sector organizations, or applied research partners
  • Ability to teach in face-to-face, hybrid/blended, online, graduate, executive, or professional education formats

  • This position is a Designated Research Position and is regulated by the Arkansas Research Education Protection Act of 2025.
