Administrative
- Reinforce procedural program (Interventional Electrophysiology) for SIU Health Care and SIU School of Medicine.
- Actively participate with the leadership team to develop and implement policies and strategies that support our strategic direction.
- Assume divisional administrative responsibility as directed by the Division Chief.
Teaching
- Teach, mentor, and supervise individual students and residents during in-patient and out-patient consultations and follow-up visits and in the procedural areas.
- Prepare lectures, seminars and rounds for students taking the Cardiology elective.
- Didactic Teaching (5-10 %): Prepare and deliver lectures, seminars, conferences and rounds for resident house staff, medical students and other learners in the Department of Medicine and other departments.
- Provide periodic seminars/educational sessions for the division.
- Prepare conferences for the Department of Medicine.
- Provide lectures and conferences at hospitals in communities of Central and Southern Illinois.
Research and Advanced Training
As defined by individual interest and in compliance with Department policy.
Service (includes 10 % or half of Clinical Teaching effort)
- Complete inpatient and outpatient consultations requested by full-time SIU clinical faculty, house staff and community physicians.
- Perform duties in relevant procedural areas.
- Develop and maintain professional practice in accordance with departmental policy.
- Achieve target of x RVUs per year.
- Participate in University, SIU HC and hospital committees as requested.
Qualifications
- Sensitive to the needs of underrepresented minority populations.
- Graduate of accredited medical school program.
- Diplomate of the American Board of Cardiology or eligibility for ABIM.
- Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Illinois or Licensed by the State of Illinois prior to employment.
