Administrative

Assume divisional and departmental administrative responsibility as directed by the Division Chief. Academic consideration time (0.05 FTE).

Teaching

• Teach, mentor, and supervise individual students and residents during in-patient and out-patient consultations and follow-up visits.
• Prepare lectures, seminars and rounds for students and residents taking the Gastroenterology elective.
• Beyond teaching within the context of provision of clinical care, prepare and deliver lectures, seminars, conferences and rounds for resident house staff, medical students and other learners in the Department of Medicine and other departments.
• Provide periodic seminars/educational sessions for the division. Prepare conferences for the Department of Medicine. Provide lectures and conferences at hospitals in communities of Central and Southern Illinois.

Research and Advanced Training

As defined by individual interest and in compliance with Department policy.

Service

• Complete inpatient and outpatient consultations requested by full-time SIU clinical faculty, house staff and community physicians.
• Develop and maintain professional practice in accordance with departmental policy.

Qualifications

• Sensitive to the needs of underrepresented minority populations.
• Graduate of accredited medical school program.
• Graduate of formal specialty training program in Gastroenterology.
• Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine or eligibility for ABIM.
• Diplomate of the American Board of Gastroenterology Medicine or eligibility for Gastroenterology Board.
• Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Illinois or eligible for such licensure.

Supplemental Information

The budgeted annual salary range is $300,000 to $330,000, representing the academic base salary only, which is funded through the University. The final academic base salary will be determined by a thorough assessment of available market data, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, and budget considerations. Additional clinical compensation will be provided separately through a member practice agreement.
