About the role

The Department of Classics at the University of Notre Dame invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor specializing in Latin Literature broadly conceived. We welcome candidates who will contribute to the intellectual life of the Department and the University, and exhibit interdisciplinary interests. Learn more about the Department of Classics.

Responsibilities

• Teach two courses per semester, including undergraduate and graduate courses in Latin language and literature or related subdisciplines, as well as courses in classical civilization and culture in translation.
• Mentor undergraduate and MA graduate students.
• Contribute to the administrative activities of the Department and the University.

Requirements

• Ph.D. or equivalent in Classics or a related field at the time of hire.
• Demonstrated ability to teach Latin language and literature, Roman history, and classical civilization courses.
• Evidence of teaching experience, including course syllabi.
