Assistant Professor, Management

Department of Management and Entrepreneurship, Sykes College of Business, The University of Tampa – full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor in Management (August 2027 start).

About the role

The University of Tampa is a medium-sized, comprehensive, residentially-based private institution of more than 10,000 undergraduate and graduate students. The campus is located on 110 acres next to the Hillsborough River, adjacent to Tampa’s central business district. The teaching load is three 4-credit-hour courses (12 credit hours) per semester. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in strategic management and one other management subdiscipline, engage with students, and participate in department activities such as assurance of learning, curriculum meetings, and College of Business faculty events.

Responsibilities

• Teach three 4-credit-hour courses per semester at undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Cover strategic management and at least one additional management subdiscipline.
• Participate in department activities, including assurance of learning and curriculum meetings.
• Attend College of Business faculty meetings and events.
• Engage in student mentoring and scholarly research.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. from an AACSB-accredited program in Management or a closely related business field with published scholarly work in Management (ABDs considered).
• Track record in teaching, scholarship, service, and student mentoring.
• Expertise in strategic management and a secondary interest in one or more of the following: human resources management, international management, leadership, organizational behavior, organizational development, creative problem solving and innovation, and/or sustainability.
• Preference for candidates with both university teaching and applied organizational experience, and those able to cover multiple courses taught by the department.

The Sykes College of Business is AACSB-accredited, employs over 110 full-time faculty, and houses three centers and two institutes: the Center for Ethics, TECO Energy Center for Leadership, John P. Lowth Entrepreneurship Center, the Naimoli Institute for Business Strategy, and the Institute for Sales Excellence. The College occupies a state-of-the-art building for undergraduate and graduate students.
