Assistant Professor – Information Technology: Cybersecurity Specialization

About the role

The University of North Texas at Dallas (UNT Dallas) College of Business and Technology invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Information Technology (Cybersecurity Specialization) starting Fall 2027. This is a full-time, tenure-track position. The successful candidate will be expected to achieve excellence in teaching, research, and service, and to contribute to the growth of the UNT-Dallas Information Technology program.

Responsibilities

This position is responsible for teaching four (4) courses per semester and participating in service activities such as program development, course development, program assessment, program accreditation, and committee leadership. The successful applicant will be the inaugural cybersecurity professor at UNT Dallas and will be expected to engage in high-quality research and scholarship in their field, as well as provide instruction in a full range of undergraduate Cybersecurity and Information Technology courses, including but not limited to:

• Foundations of Cybersecurity
• Network Administration
• Cloud Security
• Computer Forensics
• Computer Networks
• Programming

Qualifications

The minimum qualifications for this position are:

• A doctoral degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline. ABD will be considered.
• Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate courses in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, and Computer Science.
• Demonstrated effective writing and verbal communication skills.
• Experience using technology in teaching and experience teaching in multiple modalities (hybrid, online, and face-to-face).
• Evidence of significant academic research and/or applied experience in Cybersecurity.

Preferred qualifications include academic experience working on a campus with culturally diverse students, staff, and faculty, experience in developing both face-to-face and online courses, and experience in curriculum development and program assessment.

Skills

The successful applicant will have demonstrated effective writing and verbal communication skills, experience using technology in teaching, and knowledge of Cybersecurity.

Pay and Schedule

The work schedule for this position is Monday to Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm, on campus with flexible work arrangement available and the possibility of occasional remote work.
