About Us

The University of North Texas at Dallas (UNT Dallas) College of Business and Technology invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Information Technology (Cybersecurity Specialization) starting Fall 2027. This is a full-time, tenure-track position.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be the inaugural cybersecurity professor at UNT Dallas and will contribute to the growth of the Information Technology program. This position involves teaching four courses per semester, engaging in high-quality research and scholarship, and participating in service activities such as program development, course development, program assessment, accreditation, and committee leadership.

Responsibilities

• Teach four courses per semester in undergraduate Cybersecurity and Information Technology, including but not limited to:
  • Foundations of Cybersecurity
  • Network Administration
  • Cloud Security
  • Computer Forensics
  • Computer Networks
  • Programming
• Engage in high-quality research and scholarship in cybersecurity or related fields.
• Participate in service activities, including program development, course development, program assessment, accreditation, and committee leadership.
• Contribute to the university’s Classroom to Career initiative by integrating experiential learning into the curriculum.

Requirements

• A doctoral degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline (ABD will be considered).
• Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate courses in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, and Computer Science.
• Demonstrated effective writing and verbal communication skills.
• Experience using technology in teaching and experience teaching in multiple modalities (hybrid, online, and face-to-face).
• Evidence of significant academic research and/or applied experience in Cybersecurity.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working on a campus with culturally diverse students, staff, and faculty.
• Experience in developing both face-to-face and online courses.
• Experience in curriculum development and program assessment.

Skills

• Effective writing and verbal communication.
• Proficiency in using technology for teaching.

Schedule

Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, on campus with flexible work arrangements available and the possibility of occasional remote work.
