About The Role

We are seeking an inspiring educator in Architectural Humanities to join us on a 0.2 FTE Fixed Term contract for 30 months (term-time only), starting 1 September 2026.

The Role Includes:

  • Lead and deliver teaching for the Thesis Research Document (final-year dissertation)
  • Supporting students in the development of a humanities-based, rigorous, and critically informed architectural research project that underpins their design thesis
  • Guide students in selecting and refining a focused research topic, conducting literature reviews, employing analytical drawing as a research method, analysing architectural case studies, sites, and precedents, and developing independent critical arguments
  • Foster students’ abilities in research, critical thinking, academic writing, and the synthesis of historical, theoretical, and architectural knowledge, ensuring that the dissertation contributes meaningfully to the broader thesis framework encompassing theory, site, programme, and case study
  • Provide academic supervision, formative feedback, and assessment of verbal presentations and written work in line with programme learning outcomes
  • Place a strong emphasis on integrating architectural history and theory into contemporary design studio teaching, fostering contextual awareness, critical reflection, and research-led design practice, while also contributing to design studio teaching, reviews, and thesis mentoring

About You

You will bring expertise in architectural history, theory, and humanities-based approaches to design, including experience teaching research methods, analytical drawing, theoretical frameworks, and critical analytical skills.

You will be committed to supporting students in situating design work within wider cultural, historical and intellectual contexts, and confident contributing to a vibrant design studio environment.

About The Team

You will join a collaborative and dynamic Architecture department committed to excellent teaching, research, and knowledge exchange.

Working closely with the Course Director and Humanities Lead, you will contribute to a vibrant scholarly community where design studio and humanities teaching are deeply integrated.

You will help shape learning environments that cultivate critical thinking, contextual awareness, analytical visual methods, and reflective design practice.
