Assistant Professor - Construction Management (Construction Management/Civil Engineering Technology)

About the Role

The Construction Management and Civil Engineering Department (CMCE) at New York City College of Technology (CUNY) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin during the 2026-2027 academic year. CMCE is a growing department with over 500 students, located in the DUMBO neighborhood of Brooklyn. It is the only department in CUNY to offer an ABET-accredited bachelor's degree in construction engineering, and also offers associate degree programs in Civil Engineering Technology (ABET-accredited) and Construction Management Technology. Reporting to the Department Chair, this position offers an opportunity to develop curriculum and programs within a highly regarded department with strong industry links.

Responsibilities

• Teach core undergraduate construction management topics including project management, contract administration, labor management, safety, budgeting, and scheduling, with the option to teach in related disciplines such as computing or information technology in construction engineering.
• Engage in program development, recruitment, and student advisement.
• Participate in committee work and other department, college, university, and/or community service.
• Continue professional growth and make scholarly contributions to the field.
• Day, evening, and weekend teaching and department duties may be required.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in area(s) of experience or equivalent.
• Ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
• Candidates with a minimum of a master's degree in construction management or a related field, plus a professional license (PE, RA) and extensive professional experience, may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ph.D. in construction management or a related field.
• Prior teaching experience in a higher education setting.
• A history of professional practice in construction or a construction-related field.
• Working knowledge of the U.S. construction industry.

Compensation

$76,937 - $94,909, commensurate with education and experience.
