Assistant Professor, Civil Engineering
About the role
The Douglas D. Schumann School of Engineering at Wentworth Institute of Technology invites applications for an Assistant Professor position to begin in Fall 2026. The position is open to all areas of Civil Engineering and is considered for the Blittersdorf Professorship for the first three years of the appointment.
Responsibilities
- Teach Civil Engineering courses in the undergraduate and graduate programs.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of the Civil Engineering curriculum.
- Participate in research activities and secure external funding.
- Mentor students and advise them on their academic and professional development.
- Collaborate with industry partners and other educational institutions.
Requirements
- Doctoral degree in Civil Engineering.
- 3 years of relevant experience preferred.
- Experience or ability to teach transportation or environmental engineering is a plus.
Qualifications
- Strong commitment to teaching and mentoring students.
- Ability to conduct independent research and secure external funding.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Pay
The salary range for this position is between $89,042 and $105,114, with a Blittersdorf Professorship providing an additional $3,000 annual salary supplement and a $5,000 annual research budget for the first three years.
Schedule
The position is expected to start in Fall 2026 and continue on a full-time basis.
