Assistant Professor - Bone Marrow Transplant Clinical Psychologist

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide Behavioral Health and Psychotherapy Services for inpatients, their families/caregivers at University of Colorado Hospital with hematologic concerns.
  • Provide services to outpatients, their families/caregivers in the Hematology, Hematologic Malignancies, and Cellular Therapy clinics and infusion center, and patients off site though virtual visits.
  • Clinical approaches including but not limited to psychotherapy and helth for concerns such as adjustment to illness, existential/end-of-life issues, and management of psychiatric illness, in addition to providing trauma-informed approaches, safety evaluations, comprehensive assessments, pre-procedure evaluations and capacity evaluations for medical decision making.
  • Assist with unit/patient/staff relational dynamics and provide recommendations to help in cases involving complex patient interactions.
  • Develop educational programming and present at Division of Hematology Grand Rounds.
  • Participate in quality review activities and process improvement.

    Qualifications

    • Ph.D. or PsyD in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from a regionally accredited university with an APA-accredited clinical psychology training program.
    • Completion of an APA-accredited psychology internship training program.
    • Postdoctoral fellowship or postdoctoral training in clinical health psychology OR equivalent work experience in a related specialty.
    • Experience on an integrated medical or mental health team.
    • Full, unrestricted license to practice psychology in the State of Colorado OR currently license eligible OR on track for license eligibility by time of anticipated start date in the State of Colorado.

    Work Location

    Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located ion the University of Colorado-Anschutz Medical Campus, located in Aurora, Colorado.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
    • Ph.D. or PsyD in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from a regionally accredited university with an APA-accredited clinical psychology training program.
    • Completion of an APA-accredited psychology internship training program.
    • Postdoctoral fellowship or postdoctoral training in clinical health psychology OR equivalent work experience in a related specialty.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Doctoral training as a clinical health psychologist or with a focus on health psychology.
    • A postdoctoral fellowship as a clinical practitioner in an integrated behavioral health position.
    • At least two (2) years of clinical experience as a licensed psychologist in an integrated medical setting.
    • Prior psycho-oncology and/or cellular therapy experience.
    • Research interest, publications and funded or unfunded academic work in psychosocial oncology and related disciplines.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
    • Outstanding customer service skills.
