About the role
The Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences is creating an inclusive environment that values diversity and community. This is a 9-month tenure-accruing position that combines 60% teaching (in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences) and 40% research (at the Florida Agricultural Experiment Station) within the Department of Food and Resource Economics, part of the University of Florida.
Responsibilities
- Teach courses in agricultural and applied economics across the undergraduate and graduate curriculum.
- Develop a nationally recognized research program focusing on economic issues pertinent to the food and agricultural industry, such as international trade, agricultural policy, or related topics.
- Seek and secure external funding to support research initiatives.
- Engage in Extension activities related to the candidate's program area.
- Support and participate in the University of Florida's mission areas: Research, Teaching, and Extension.
Requirements
- A doctoral degree (or foreign equivalent) in agricultural and/or applied economics, economics, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated skills in verbal and written communication, interpersonal relationships, and securing extramural funding.
- A commitment to the mission of the Land-Grant system and UF core values.
- Some proficiency with modern data-science methods such as machine learning and artificial intelligence.
Qualifications
- Doctorate in agricultural and/or applied economics, economics, or a closely related discipline.
- Experience in teaching and research.
- Commitment to UF core values and the Land-Grant system.
- Interest or proficiency in modern data-science methods.
Skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Interpersonal relationships and networking abilities.
- Ability to secure extramural funding.
