About the role
The Department of Physics at Stanford University is seeking applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in all areas of theoretical physics or theoretical astrophysics, broadly construed. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, theoretical astrophysics, condensed matter physics, cosmology, high energy physics, particle physics, quantum field theory, quantum gravity, quantum information, and the interface between physics and other fields such as computer science and mathematics.
Responsibilities
- Conduct innovative research in theoretical physics or theoretical astrophysics
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in theoretical physics or related fields
- Engage in professional service within the academic community
- Supervise graduate students and postdoctoral scholars
Requirements
- A PhD in Physics or a closely related field
- Outstanding research record
- Strong teaching abilities
- Excellent communication skills
Qualifications
- Research excellence in theoretical physics or theoretical astrophysics
- Ability to teach effectively at both the undergraduate and graduate levels
- Experience supervising graduate students and postdoctoral scholars
