About the role
The Department of Architecture in the nationally ranked School of Architecture at Florida International University invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure-earning Assistant Professor of Architecture and Structural Design beginning August 13, 2026. This appointment has a focus on research and teaching of structures and design studios at both undergraduate and graduate levels, primarily within the professional Master of Architecture program.
Qualifications
- We invite dynamic individuals with expertise in structural design, holding an advanced professional degree in architecture, an engineering background, and university teaching experience.
- The successful candidate will teach core and advanced courses in structures and design studios while maintaining research that bridges architectural design and engineering principles.
- The ideal candidate will advance the field through peer-reviewed research, publication, and creative work.
- We seek candidates with a proven record of bringing innovative approaches to teaching and research. Prior graduate teaching experience is essential, particularly in areas that emphasize the integration of engineering and architectural design.
- The ability to engage students through hands-on learning, critical thinking, and the application of emerging technologies will be highly valued.
- The minimum academic credentials required for the position: The Master of Architecture, the Master of Science in Engineering, or the equivalent international degrees in Architecture, Engineering, or a closely related field. PhD, DDes, and/or professional licensure are preferred.
