About the role

The School of Information (iSchool) at Florida State University seeks to fill one (1) nine-month tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level.

Responsibilities

- Teach and conduct research in one or more innovative subject areas within librarianship, such as AI literacy, computational thinking, information programs and services, information organization, government information, information policy, youth services, digital humanities, museum informatics, and/or community engagement and outreach. - Have strong technical and/or analytical skills. - Articulate a research agenda that aligns with the broader research interests of the iSchool. - Work effectively within a highly interdisciplinary environment. - Actively seek external funding. - Teach at all levels, including courses in the school’s bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degree programs. - Experience teaching online, as well as face-to-face, is preferred. - Typically teach two courses per semester each academic year. - Advise students. - Serve on School, College, and University committees. - Be active in professional and academic organizations.

Requirements

- Hold a Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate in information science, information science, information technology, or a cognate field.
