Job DescriptionThe School of Information (iSchool) at Florida State University seeks to fill one (1) nine-month tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level. Job DutiesWe are seeking a faculty colleague whose research and teaching will be in the broad domain of cybersecurity and who will employ a behavioral, sociotechnical, and/or technical perspective. Specific areas of research interest may include, but are not limited to, how cybersecurity interacts with areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), human-computer interaction (HCI), data science, information policy, information ethics, and computer networking. Successful candidates will have strong technical and/or analytical skills and be able to articulate a research agenda that aligns with the broader research interests of the iSchool. They must also clearly demonstrate the ability to work effectively within a highly interdisciplinary environment. Candidates should also indicate a clear plan for actively seeking external funding. In addition to strong research, the iSchool values highly effective and innovative teaching. Successful applicants must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching in cybersecurity-related areas. The successful candidate will be expected to teach at all levels, including courses in the iSchool’s bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degree programs. Experience teaching online, as well as face-to-face, is preferred. Faculty typically teach two courses per semester each academic year. All faculty members are expected to advise students, serve on iSchool, College, and University committees, and be active in professional and academic organizations. ExperienceQualified applicants will have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate in information science, information systems, information technology, or a cognate field. Supplemental InformationThe School of Information is one of three academic units within the College of Communication and Information at Florida State University. The FSU iSchool offers a Bachelor’s degree program with majors in Information Technology (IT) and Information, Communication, and Technology (ICT); Master’s degree programs in Information Technology and Information; and a Ph.D. program in Information. The iSchool faculty also operates the eHealth Lab and iSensor Lab, and is a founding partner in FSU’s Innovation Hub, an innovation center and fab lab/makerspace for teaching and research that utilizes technologies including virtual/augmented reality, 3D printing, and 3D visualization. School of Information faculty have been awarded over $50 million in federal, state, local, and foundation research grants, and maintain strong connections to the community through various information, literacy, and service initiatives. Funding has been received from NIH, IMLS, NSF, and the DOD as well as The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, The McKnight Foundation, and others. iSchool faculty have strong collaborations with researchers in the College of Medicine, College of Social Work, College of Nursing, College of Education, Health and Human Sciences, and College of Arts and Sciences.
