ASSISTANT PASTRY CHEF

About the Role

Le Bon Nosh, a restaurant and market in Atlanta's Buckhead neighborhood, is seeking a part-time Assistant Pastry Chef to join our team. We are committed to building community through food, celebrating seasonal ingredients, and supporting local farmers and purveyors. The ideal candidate is passionate about creating quality pastries and desserts, has a positive attitude, and is eager to expand their knowledge in a professional kitchen setting.

Responsibilities

• Efficiently prepare a variety of goods such as cakes, cookies, cheesecakes, and bread, following traditional and modern recipes for our in-house coffee shop, restaurant, and banquets.
• Create new and seasonally changing desserts and pastries.
• Ensure consistent quality in the preparation and presentation of all products.
• Assist the Pastry Chef with production and preparation for banquets.
• Maintain a clean and orderly station, adhering to health and safety standards.
• Understand and properly use kitchen equipment, tools, and product storage and rotation.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Pastry Cook or in a relevant role, preferably with a minimum of 1 year in a professional kitchen.
• Great attention to detail and creativity in following recipes and adding flavorings, seasonings, and ingredients.
• Ability to work both as a team and independently.
• Strong organization and communication skills.
• Willingness to learn, adapt, and discover new methods and recipes.
• Experienced knowledge of baking methods and basic techniques.
• Working knowledge of baking with ingredient limitations (gluten-free, sugarless, etc.).
• Understanding of yeast dough, lamination process, and chocolate work.
• Punctuality and adherence to correct attire.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift a 50-pound bag of flour/sugar.
• Availability for shifts starting at 5 am, including weekends and some holidays.

Pay

Hourly rate: $15-$20/hr, based on experience.
