Assistant or Associate Professor of Anthropology
About the role
The Department of Sociology and Anthropology at the University of La Verne invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor in Anthropology with a specialty in Forensic or Medical Anthropology. Candidates would be expected to teach courses such as Introduction to Anthropology, Cultural Anthropology, Forensic Investigations, Quantitative Methods, Research Methods, Archaeology, and Internship, in addition to special topics in their area of expertise. In addition, candidates are expected to engage in research and provide departmental service, including advising majors and minors. Preference given to candidates with departmental leadership experience. We welcome candidates from underrepresented groups in college faculties.
Responsibilities
- Teach courses in Anthropology, including Introduction to Anthropology, Cultural Anthropology, Forensic Investigations, Quantitative Methods, Research Methods, Archaeology, and Internship, as well as special topics in their area of expertise.
- Engage in research and provide departmental service, including advising majors and minors.
- Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and social justice.
- Work with diverse populations, including first generation and Latinx students.
- Be a teacher-scholar who is a good departmental citizen.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in anthropology from an accredited institution at the time of appointment (July 1, 2024).
- Prior teaching experience.
Qualifications
- Commitment to teaching and research in Forensic or Medical Anthropology.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations, including first generation and Latinx students.
- Experience with departmental leadership.
