Responsibilities

  • Teach introductory courses in Anthropology, including Archaeology, Cultural Anthropology, and Biological Anthropology (lecture and laboratory).
  • Deliver instruction in-person, hybrid, or online; evening classes may be required.
  • Advance equitable student learning using inclusive and anti-racist pedagogies.
  • Participate in assessment of student learning outcomes and program review.
  • Collaborate in curriculum development and departmental initiatives.
  • Engage in professional development, department/division/college committees, and shared governance.

Vocational & Continuing Education

  • Maintain course materials, assignments, grading, and office hours.

Anthropology

  • Maintain professional conduct, ethics, and up-to-date knowledge in the discipline.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s in Anthropology or Archaeology, OR Bachelor’s in Anthropology/Archaeology plus Master’s in Sociology, Biological Sciences, Forensic Sciences, Genetics, or Paleontology.
  • Understanding of and sensitivity to diverse academic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience teaching college-level Anthropology courses.
  • Commitment to culturally responsive curriculum and inclusive teaching methods.
  • Experience teaching students underprepared for college-level reading/writing.
  • Experience across multiple teaching modalities: face-to-face, hybrid, online.
  • Commitment to equity, innovation, and faculty responsibilities beyond the classroom.
