Assistant Office Manager (Denver NE)

The Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is seeking a passionate leader to guide teams, develop strategic goals, and drive results. This role focuses on making a difference for customers and employees across Colorado.
Duties
- Assist the Driver License Office Manager in adjusting resources and personnel for maximum effectiveness
- Provide input and assist with annual Performance Plan evaluations, quarterly, mid-year, and final employee performance evaluations
- Discuss employee performance matters and prepare documentation as needed
- Provide day-to-day supervision, including coaching and conflict resolution
- Handle and resolve escalated customer complaints
- Process complicated or more difficult applications
- Operate as floor lead, relieving employees for breaks, monitoring workflow, and overseeing employee schedules
- Assist with accounting duties: daily deposit, reconciling employee cash/credit card receipts, verification of funds, and employee cashiering
- Perform all functions of line staff, including issuing documents, when business dictates
- Stand for long periods of time
Work Locations & Travel
This position reports onsite at the Denver NE Drivers License Office (4685 Peoria St, Ste 115, Denver CO 80239). May require travel to the Salida Driver License Office (448 E 1st St, Salida, CO 81201) or the CO Territorial Correctional Facility (275 W US HWY 50, Cañon City, CO 81212). Required to travel and work between multiple DOR Offices.
Colorado Residency Requirement
Applicants must have a Colorado address and a Colorado State issued Driver License at the time of application.
Minimum Qualifications
Must meet one of the following:
- Four (4) years of work experience in a public-facing role, technical customer-service role, or customer service in a regulatory environment; OR
- A combination of related education in Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Resources, or a similar field and/or relevant experience in a public-facing role, technical customer-service role, or customer service in a regulatory environment, equal to four (4) years

Preferred Qualifications
- Direct supervisory experience leading a workforce interacting with the general public
- Department management experience, establishing performance goals and evaluating workforce performance
- Experience in coaching and conflict management
- Experience in a regulatory environment or technical customer service workplace serving the general public
- Intermediate to advanced computer and data entry skills
- Driver License Fundamentals (DLF) Certified

Conditions of Employment
All personnel must file all necessary Colorado Individual Income Tax (CIIT) returns and pay tax obligations, requiring a pre-employment evaluation of tax records/accounts. Final candidates must complete a successful background investigation and reference check prior to appointment. Certain positions may require scheduled background investigations. Workers expected to drive a State-owned vehicle must maintain a safe driving record and a valid driver license; Motor Vehicle Records will be reviewed for those with assigned fleet vehicles, required to operate a vehicle as part of the position, or utilizing a pool vehicle.
