About the role
The Assistant Nurse Operations Manager - Endoscopy position at Dr. P. Phillips Hospital is responsible for shared 24/7 accountability with the Nursing Operations Manager. Key responsibilities include recruitment and selection of new team members, oversight of schedules, patient flow management, and leading process and quality improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Participates in the recruitment and selection of new team members for the unit through interviews, peer selection, and evaluation of candidates.
- Collaborates with the Unit/Department Nursing Operations Manager and Human Resources on corrective action, progressive discipline, and career advancement.
- Investigates event reports and provides feedback to both the Unit/Department Nursing Operations Manager and team members.
- Maintains oversight of patient flow and intervenes as indicated to achieve expected outcomes.
- Performs Nurse Leader rounds and reviews to identify variance from nursing best practice and regulatory or hospital standards.
- Participates in process/quality improvement initiatives to improve outcomes and standard work.
- Interfaces with patients and families to provide instruction, promote participation in patient care, and to coordinate nursing activities.
- Participates and/or leads staff meetings, GEMBA board, or huddles; demonstrates ownership of unit and outcomes.
- Performs direct patient care activities as required to meet operational needs.
- Possesses excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.
Other Related Functions
- Leadership: Expresses ideas clearly and effectively in verbal and written communication to team members and groups. Advocates on behalf of the nursing staff to represent the concerns of patients, families, and staff. Implements strategies that promote education, health, and safety. Fosters diversity, equity, and inclusion. Demonstrates collaborative and collegial relationship skills, engages staff in decision-making, and exhibits effective conflict resolution skills. Role models professional behaviors and serves as a mentor to coach team members and colleagues. Promote a safe working environment; support and/or coordinate any follow-up related to WPV occurrences.
Human Resource Management
- Manages various human resources functions including recruitment/selection process, retention, supervision, coaching and productivity.
- Aids in the clinical evaluation of team members, completes written clinical performance evaluations, and conducts timely team member assessments.
- Ensures compliance with certifications, licenses, and required education for team members.
- Influences team members to enhance their abilities and promote professional development.
Performance/Quality Improvement
- Maintains oversight of patient flow and intervenes as indicated to achieve expected outcomes.
- Monitors compliance and outcomes to identify issues and trends and leads the team on process/quality improvement initiatives.
- Ensures practice changes are evidence-based, promote high-quality nursing practice, and are consistent with research, organization, and national standards.
Financial Management
- Manages time and resources efficiently to maximize unit/department productivity.
- Promotes cost-effective management of equipment and supplies.
Qualifications
- Education/Training: Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree (BSN) required if no Master of Science in Nursing (MSN). Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with Graduate degree in Business or health-related field preferred.
- Licensure/Certification: Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Florida or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC). Maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. May require one or more of the following certifications based on the assigned patient population: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
- Experience: Two (2) years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a hospital setting. Experience with Endoscopy.
