E4 Cardiology Telemetry is a 28-bed unit and serves as the central cardiac monitoring site for the inpatient floors. About the role
The Assistant Nursing Manager is a Registered Nurse (RN) who supervises patient care, clinical personnel, and unit operations. This position oversees a work group to ensure high-quality, cost-effective, patient- and family-centered care in support of the hospital's strategic plan and departmental goals. The role involves off-shift and weekend supervision of nursing and non-licensed staff, managing resources, quality improvement, payroll, colleague scheduling, and monitoring patient throughput to facilitate efficient clinical operations. Additionally, this position ensures a safe and therapeutic unit environment and may work as a staff RN to assist as needed. The Assistant Nursing Manager supports leadership in maintaining standards of excellence and professional development and participates in or leads Performance Improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Supervise patient care, clinical personnel, and unit operations.
- Oversee daily operations of the assigned department, including off-shift and weekend supervision.
- Manage resources, quality improvement, payroll, and colleague schedules.
- Monitor patient throughput to facilitate efficient clinical operations.
- Ensure a safe and therapeutic unit environment.
- Work as a staff RN to assist as needed.
- Support leadership in maintaining standards of excellence and professional development.
- Participate in and lead Performance Improvement work.
- Collaborate with functional leadership to meet departmental goals and objectives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required; Master’s Degree in a health-related or business field preferred.
- Two (2) years of experience as an RN in a cardiology/telemetry unit.
- One year of supervisory experience preferred.
- Current Connecticut RN license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications within 90 days of hire.
- Must pass the dysrhythmia test within 3 months of hire.
- Must pass the BKAT with a score of 80% or complete a critical care course within one (1) year of hire.
- Ability to obtain and maintain department-specific certifications.
