Position Summary

Saint Francis Hospital, a member of Trinity Health Of New England, is seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager (RN) for our Medical Cardiology / Telemetry Unit. In this leadership role, you will support day-to-day clinical and operational functions of a high-acuity inpatient unit caring for patients with cardiac and complex medical conditions requiring continuous telemetry monitoring. The Assistant Nurse Manager partners with the Nurse Manager to drive clinical excellence, staff engagement, patient safety, and quality outcomes while fostering a supportive, mission-driven environment.

Full time

40 hours per week. Mixed/Varied based on unit need

Support daily operations

  • Supervise and mentor charge nurses and frontline nursing staff
  • Cook up and schedule staffing
  • Assign patients and manage throughput
  • Promote a culture of patient safety, quality care, and accountability
  • Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, DPH, and Trinity Health standards
  • Support staff development, coaching, and performance management
  • Lead and participate in quality improvement and patient experience initiatives
  • Collaborate with cardiology, hospitalist, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Serve as a visible, hands-on leader during assigned shift

Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Connecticut
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Minimum 2–3 years of acute care nursing experience
  • Prior leadership, charge nurse, or supervisory experience
  • Experience in telemetry, cardiology, or med-surg acute care
  • Preferred: Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or enrollment in program
  • Certification (e.g., PCCN, CMSRN, or leadership certification)
