Assistant Nurse Manager - Neonatal ICU, Full-Time, Nights **NICU Experience & Specialty Certification Highly Preferred**

About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Nurse Manager in the Neonatal ICU, Full-Time, Nights. NICU experience and specialty certification are highly preferred.
In this role, you will provide clinical leadership and management for a designated shift on a patient care unit, consistent with the philosophy and goals of the institution, departments of nursing, unit, or program. You will assist the nurse manager in developing and sustaining an environment of excellence in patient/family service, staff growth and development, and evidence-based practice to improve patient care.

- Monitors staff attendance and ensures appropriate staffing and skill mix to optimize patient outcomes and safety while promoting fiscal responsibility.
- Coordinates care delivery and staff assignments based on patient care needs and clinical competency for optimal unit operation and patient outcomes.
- Assists in scheduling, payroll, and integrating services across the care continuum.
- Provides direct patient care as needed to support clinical operations of the unit.
- Provides leadership support for other units in the service.
- Holds self and others accountable for delivering exemplary care in a cost-efficient manner.
- Assists with maintaining accreditation, regulatory standards, service standards, and policies at organizational, local, state, and federal levels.
- Communicates with clarity and integrity to build trust with all stakeholders, reporting significant patient care issues, family concerns, safety risks, and critical events to leadership.
- Participates in drafting nursing and organizational policy, incorporating shared governance principles.
- Supports data collection and analysis to drive practice changes integrating quality, safety, patient experience, and productivity metrics.
- Assists the leadership team in maintaining licenses, certifications, and mandated learnings for unit staff.
- Fosters high reliability concepts within the unit and organizational structure.
- Encourages a culture of inquiry, innovation, and transformation, supporting staff involvement in nursing research, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice.
- Exercises independent judgment in disciplinary actions, staff evaluations, time-off approvals, work assignments, and hiring decisions.
Requirements
- Current Registered Professional Nurse licensure in New York State.
- Baccalaureate degree in Nursing.
- Two years of experience required.
- Certification in nursing leadership required upon eligibility.
- Ability to apply the nursing process toward achievement of specific outcomes in an organized fashion to address patient/family satisfaction and quality indicators.
- Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, organizational, critical thinking, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- Basic Life Support Certification through the American Heart Association.
- Physical stamina, manual dexterity, visual and aural acuity to perform responsibilities, including handling and moving reasonably heavy weight.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in nursing or a health-related area.
- Two or more years of clinical practice in the care of the patient population served.
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Pay
The salary range for this role is $151,049.99 - $151,050.00 annually. Actual salaries depend on factors such as experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. This range does not include bonuses, incentive pay, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
