Assistant Nurse Director, Surgical Services
Position Summary
The assistant director collaborates with the Director, Supervisors, and Charge Nurses in planning, goal setting, developing department budgets, coordinating supplies/equipment, staffing (recruitment/retention), and carrying out the department’s responsibilities in an efficient and effective manner. They coordinate with Educational Services in staff orientation, training/education, and care/service. In the absence of the Surgical Services Clinical Director, they interface with the Coordinator for Cardiothoracic/Vascular Surgery to prioritize tasks related to staffing concerns and/or problems. They are responsible for supervising department operations, ensuring staff have appropriate orientation/training and competence levels, and supporting quality performance initiatives.
Experience
- Must have at least 5 years current experience as a perioperative RN in an acute care hospital operating room or multidisciplinary ambulatory surgery center.
- Must demonstrate capabilities, competencies, and education in the care of the perioperative patient and providing skilled intraoperative nursing care.
- Must demonstrate ability to direct, monitor, and evaluate nursing care provided by nursing staff.
- Previous Charge RN or related management experience is required.
- Current knowledge and experience with sterile processing standards and regulations preferred.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree Required, BSN/MSN Preferred.
Licenses/Certifications
- State of CA RN license required.
- American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS required.
- ACLS certification must be obtained prior to completion of orientation and independent assignment.
- CNOR certification is preferred upon hire and required within 18 months of start date.

$234,249
