Position Summary

Establishes and enforces policies, procedures, standards and objectives for the Nursing department. Directs and supervises staff, and oversees workflow. Responsible for the ongoing effective operation of the department, ensuring alignment with hospital mission, vision, goals, and objectives. Manages budget preparation and adherence, supply chain management, employee evaluations, and strategic planning.

Responsibilities

  • Directs and supervises staff and workflow
  • Ensures continuous assessment, improvement, and coordination of department services and standards of care
  • Approves timekeeping, employee evaluations, and supply orders
  • Monitors productivity and cost per unit of service to meet budgetary guidelines
  • Plans work assignments and resource allocation, considering timeliness and financial impact
  • Hires, terminates, trains, evaluates performance, and supervises staff
  • Manages staff to ensure compliance with standards, policies, and procedures
  • Promotes employee engagement through participation in department operations and activities
  • Provides direction and delegation in a positive, professional manner
  • Cultivates and promotes staff expertise and knowledge
  • Assists with policy and procedure development, job descriptions, and competencies
  • Performs necessary edits for Kronos time management system and payroll
  • Engages physicians to promote physician relations and patient satisfaction
  • Develops and implements actions plans to improve patient satisfaction scores
  • Serves as hospital representative on medical staff committees
  • Maintains and monitors JCAHO and other regulatory requirements
  • Gathers and reports quality indicators generated by department activity
  • Supports organization strategies to meet core measure goals
  • Supports organization strategies to increase volumes
  • Mentors and develops staff

Qualifications

  • Five years experience in nursing management in a hospital setting with three years supervisory experience required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Business Administration, Management or related field, or equivalent minimum experience requirements
  • Current Arizona Registered Nurse License
