Overview
The Assistant Newsletter Lead designs the monthly newsletter and coordinates tasks across the newsletter team.
Key Responsibilities
- Outline the monthly content calendar and determine themes, highlights, and featured stories.
- Assign writing, editing, graphics, and submission tasks to newsletter team members.
- Create the visual layout using the organization’s branding, ensuring clarity, accessibility, and readability.
- Edit submissions for tone, accuracy, grammar, and alignment with organizational messaging.
- Host brief check-ins or send reminders to keep contributors on schedule.
- Combine all approved content into the final newsletter draft.
- Work with the team to ensure the newsletter is sent out on time.
- Review open rates, click-throughs, and reader feedback to improve future newsletters.
Qualifications
- Able to draft, edit, and refine clear, engaging content.
- Comfortable using Canva, Zeffy, or similar tools to create visually appealing layouts.
- Can manage monthly deadlines and coordinate multiple contributors.
- Ensures accuracy, consistency, and alignment with organizational messaging.
- Able to delegate tasks, give clear instructions, and follow up with contributors.
- Brings fresh ideas for themes, stories, and visuals.
- Open to collaboration and revising content based on team input.
- Shows consistency in meeting monthly commitments.
