Newsletters Deputy Team Lead

The Role

Bloomberg Industry Group seeks a Deputy Team Leader for its newsletter team. The ideal candidate will guide a team of journalists in creating engaging and innovative newsletters that meet the needs of professionals in various industries.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the daily flow of news and ensure quality standards are maintained.
• Coordinate the team of reporters and editors, and understand the broader newsroom dynamics to cover major developments comprehensively.
• Make assignments and set the team’s agenda, from daily coverage to long-term projects.
• Provide constructive feedback and help editors communicate effectively.
• Understand what readers need and what coverage will resonate with them.
• Able to adapt to new technologies and tools, and organize resources efficiently.
• Set high standards and lead by example, challenging the team to produce the best possible stories.
• Be a self-starter who educates reporters and editors about newsroom goals.

• Exceptional news judgment and curiosity to make assignments and set the team’s agenda.
• Top-notch editing skills and the ability to enhance stories and provide constructive feedback.
• Knowledge of reader needs and the ability to create resonant coverage.
• Ability to adapt to new technology and tools, and excellent organizational skills.
• Courage to make tough decisions in the moment, learn from mistakes, and adjust as needed.
• Experience in journalism with a bachelor’s degree in journalism or equivalent experience.
• Five or more years of experience in journalism, with demonstrated success producing excellent and ambitious stories.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with coursework in journalism or equivalent experience.

Benefits

Compensation Range: $105,000.00 - $135,000.00

Placement in the salary range will be decided upon completion of the interview process. Salary determination will be based on factors including but not limited to relevant experience, demonstrated skills related to the requirements of the role, education, certifications, and geographic location.
