Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach
What You’ll Do
- Support daily operations of the men’s soccer program, including planning and leading practices, developing game strategies, and assisting with game-day execution
- Recruit, retain, and mentor student-athletes, ensuring both athletic and academic success and timely degree progression
- Provide instruction in technical skills, physical conditioning, and team concepts while promoting player safety and development
- Collaborate with athletic performance staff to enhance conditioning programs and minimize injury risk
- Aid in program logistics such as travel planning, compliance documentation, eligibility monitoring, and administrative processes
- Engage with campus partners, including Admissions and Athletics staff, to support student-athlete onboarding and success
- Participate in camps, clinics, fundraising, and community engagement initiatives
- Maintain compliance with NCAA Division II, conference, and university regulations while modeling professionalism and ethical conduct

About the Role
The Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach supports all aspects of a competitive NCAA Division II men’s soccer program while contributing to the holistic development of student-athletes in alignment with Newman University’s mission and Catholic identity. This part-time, 10-month, exempt position plays a key role in coaching, recruiting, student success, and program operations.
Qualifications
- Some college required; bachelor’s degree preferred, with collegiate playing experience strongly valued
- Demonstrated knowledge of soccer fundamentals, strategy, and NCAA Division II rules, with ability to obtain required recruiting certification
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with student-athletes and colleagues
- Experience or ability in recruiting and developing student-athletes academically and athletically
- Organizational skills and ability to contribute to administrative and operational functions
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable motor vehicle record and ability to travel, including evenings and weekends
- First Aid and CPR certification (or ability to obtain)
