About the role
Responsible for assisting in the organization, development, and leadership of a highly competitive Division III Men’s and Women’s Cross Country/Track & Field program in support of the mission and core values of Union College. The program is a member of NCAA Division III and the Liberty League. Union College sponsors 27 intercollegiate sports, 25 in Division III, with Men’s and Women’s Ice Hockey competing at Division I.
Responsibilities
- Assists in recruiting and retaining top prospective student athletes who are fully engaged in the mission of Union College. Collaborates with the head coach and admissions department to arrange on-campus visits for all prospective student-athletes and their families. Ensures compliance with all recruitment policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates effective teaching methods and possesses excellent leadership. Travels to meets and competitions on weekends.
- Works proactively with campus stakeholders to ensure the academic success of student-athletes. Mentors student-athletes.
- Supports administrative aspects designated by the head coach, adhering to NCAA, league, and department compliance. Assists colleagues as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
- Understanding of NCAA rules and regulations.
- Coaching philosophy compatible with a liberal arts college that upholds highly selective academic standards.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, and computer skills.
- Ability to recruit within College, NCAA, and Liberty League rules.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.
Preferred Qualifications
- Collegiate coaching experience.
- Playing or coaching experience as a cross country and/or track and field athlete.
- Experience in either distance, sprints, or horizontal jumps.
- Experience leading young adults.
- Speed/power experience a plus.
Pay
The annual salary range for this position is $50,000–$52,500.
