About The Role
The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC) is seeking an Assistant Store Manager for its retail team at the Encino Thrift Store. This position is dedicated to promoting a positive shopping/donor experience, enhancing customer service, and contributing to the success of the program and its participants.
Responsibilities
- Taking an active role and partnering with the Store Manager in the day-to-day operation of the store.
- Performing all day-to-day store operations in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Providing coaching, training, and development to the Store Employees.
- Maintaining good Customer/Donor/Community relations; resolving complaints; and ensuring quick and efficient service.
- Communicating any personnel issues with Management, in absence of Store Manager. Issuing disciplinary warnings, conference reports, employee evaluations, and goals as needed in coordination with the HR Generalist/Coordinator and District Sales Manager.
- Ensuring the store is maintained at ARC Merchandising Standards, maintaining adequate inventory levels on hand.
- BRP (Back Room Processing) - Ensuring Material Handlers are working effectively and efficiently to meet daily processing goals.
- Adequately managing cash in registers and banking of cash receipts as per ARCC policy.
- Aiding the Store Manager in establishing and maintaining safety measures consistent with ARC policy and governmental regulations.
- Implementing appropriate loss prevention measures.
- Assisting with other written or verbal duties as assigned by Management, Retail Directors, and Command Administration.
Qualifications
- High School diploma/GED or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years previous Retail Management/Supervisory experience.
- Accurately handling POS/Cash Register operations and cash transactions.
- Valid Driver’s license with proof of insurance.
- Pass background check, including Criminal History and Sex Offender Registry.
- Ability to communicate effectively with management, fellow store employees, customers, and donors.
Physical Demands
- Sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
- Grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, clothing carts, merchandise carts, rolling clothing racks, fixtures, furniture dollies, platform trucks and carts, hand trucks, and miscellaneous carts.
- Move product up to 50 lbs.
- Perform various repetitive motion tasks.
- Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
Schedule
Stores operate 7 days per week. Work schedules are determined by Management and associates must be flexible to ensure adequate store coverage. Full-time associates may be scheduled to work any full-time shift including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
