Assistant Landscape Architect (NY HELPS) - VID 208628
Duties
Aid in performing landscape architecture design and project management tasks to complete complex architectural projects for new and rehabilitation of building plans and designs.
Create and maintain landscape architecture drawings and details, specifications, estimates, and studies for design projects under the guidance of licensed staff.
- Prepare and coordinate design drawings and related specifications, construction costs estimates, etc., with other disciplines.
- Schedule assigned projects according to workload, priorities, and design schedules.
- Review reports, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates prepared by design consultants.
- Supervise consultant design work.
- Develop and maintain project documentation, including meeting records, correspondence, and progress notes.
- Collaborate with senior designers, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure project goals are met.
- Assist in reviewing submittals, responding to contractor Requests for Information, creating and/or reviewing Information Bulletins, and providing construction administration and observation during the project's construction.
- Supervise junior staff.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Operational Needs
Travel may be required (approximately 20%) and possession and maintenance of a valid Driver’s License issued by the NYS Department of Motor Vehicle is required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Successfully complete Sections 1 and 2 of the New York Landscape Architect Registration Examination (LARE) and one year of experience planning and designing landscape development and site improvement projects, overseeing the construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance of outdoor spaces and other open areas for transportation facilities, buildings, parks, historic sites, recreational facilities, campuses, gardens, playgrounds, and roads and highways.
- Alternatively, successfully complete 52 weeks of service as a Landscape Architect Trainee and successfully complete Sections 1 and 2 of the LARE.
- Alternatively, be a current New York State employee with one year or more of qualifying permanent service in a position allocated to an Assistant Engineer (Civil) and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
