Assistant ingénieur (H/F)

EngineeringFull-time

About the role

Contribute to identifying the neuronal network (engram cells) underlying the transformation of pathological traumatic memory (associated with post-traumatic stress disorder, PTSD) into normative contextual fear memory, and vice versa.

Using cutting-edge neuroscience technologies—such as transgenic mice (FosTRAP2), chemogenetics, optogenetics, and cellular imaging—the research engineer will study the representation and evolution of the "memory engram" during the formation, prevention, and normalization of trauma representation.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct behavioral experiments in mice
  • Perform stereotaxic surgery
  • Apply histological and immunohistochemical techniques
  • Utilize optogenetics and chemogenetics (training provided)
  • Analyze the representation and dynamics of memory engrams in trauma-related models

Requirements

  • Experience with behavioral approaches in mice
  • Proficiency in stereotaxic surgery
  • Knowledge of histological and immunohistochemical methods
  • Willingness to learn optogenetics and chemogenetics

Details

This position is funded by an excellence grant from the Brain & Behaviour Research Foundation (BBRF) for the project: "Treating or preventing PTSD-like memory through manipulation of underlying engram cells," starting April 2026.

Duration: 10 months
