About the role

This position supports the overall maintenance operations that keep county highways and bridges functioning safely and efficiently. It plays an important role in planning, supervising, and coordinating a wide range of maintenance efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Program Planning: Develop programs, estimates, and plans for maintenance operations
  • Crew Supervision: Direct general and specialized crews performing highway and bridge work
  • Work Planning: Prepare drafts of long range, annual, monthly, and weekly work plans
  • Agility Agreements: Manage and evaluate agreements to ensure fair exchange of services
  • Incident Management: Oversee emergency and incident response activities in the assigned area
  • Environmental Compliance: Monitor environmental clearances and permits

Schedule

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch
  • Overtime as needed, rotating on-call
  • No telework option available

Pay

Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $69,086.00 (before taxes).

Requirements

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as a Highway Maintenance Coordinator, Roadway Programs Coordinator, or Transportation Construction Manager 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Six years of technical experience in highway maintenance, highway construction, or maintenance of heavy equipment used in highway construction projects; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Qualifications

  • Possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent
  • Must meet the PA residency requirement
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions
