About the role
The Assistant Floor Manager partners with the Floor Manager to ensure all product is displayed, maintained under strict freshness policies (HACCP Guidelines), and drives sales through customer relationships while minimizing losses.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate teamwork to ensure customer satisfaction and a safe working and shopping environment.
- Provide friendly, efficient customer service with sincerity, patience, and respect in all interactions.
- Respond to customer questions and requests promptly and effectively.
- Operate equipment (e.g., box cutters, knives, scales, compactors, hi-los, scooters, scissor lifts) following company and OSHA guidelines.
- Adhere to product handling procedures per company and HACCP policy with an “Always Fresh” mentality.
- Assist with product presentation, rotation, labeling, and replenishment.
- Maintain in-stock product availability and monitor inventory through frequent cycle counts.
- Maintain working knowledge of all warehouse equipment and operational execution.
- Ensure consistent execution of department operating procedures per Corporate Audit.
- Use suggestive selling techniques to increase sales and secure additional revenue.
- Communicate code dating issues, monitor product quality, and address shrink opportunities.
- Plan and prioritize work duties to accomplish all assigned tasks during the shift.
- Maintain high cleanliness standards, including cleaning, sweeping, and mopping.
- Assist with interviewing, hiring, and scheduling needs.
- Comply with all local, state, and federal laws, and company guidelines; report illegal activity (e.g., theft, fraud).
- Support general team members and assist in other warehouse areas as needed.
- Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Requirements
- Ability to develop and train team members, build relationships, and utilize team skills effectively.
- Outstanding customer service skills.
- Effective management of warehouse operations.
- Clear, concise communication and active listening to understand and instruct team members.
- Proficiency in operating warehouse equipment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
- Warehouse, retail, and/or customer service experience is a plus.
- Basic proficiency with handheld scanners, desktop computers, and calculators.
Physical Demands
- Walking/standing on concrete for up to 10 hours per day.
- Frequent turning, standing, reaching, stooping, and bending.
- Frequently pushing/pulling objects weighing 500 to 1,500 lbs.
- Frequently lifting/carrying objects over 60 lbs.
Work Environment
- Frequent exposure to cold/freezing temperatures.
- Equipment in motion (e.g., forklifts, electric pallet jacks, scooters).
