About the role
The Assistant Floor Manager partners with the Floor Manager to maintain product freshness, drive sales, minimize losses, and deliver exceptional customer service in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate teamwork to ensure customer satisfaction and a safe working and shopping environment.
- Provide friendly, efficient customer service; respond to questions and requests promptly.
- Operate warehouse equipment (e.g., box cutters, knives, scales, compactors, hi-los, scooters, scissor lifts) following company and OSHA guidelines.
- Adhere to product handling procedures and HACCP policies with an “Always Fresh” mentality.
- Assist with product presentation, rotation, labeling, and replenishment to maintain in-stock availability.
- Monitor inventory levels through frequent cycle counts and communicate code dating or shrink opportunities.
- Maintain operational execution and product knowledge; ensure consistent adherence to department procedures.
- Use suggestive selling techniques to increase sales and secure additional revenue.
- Plan and prioritize work duties to accomplish all assigned tasks during the shift.
- Maintain high cleanliness standards, including cleaning, sweeping, and mopping.
- Assist with interviewing, hiring, and scheduling needs.
- Comply with all local, state, and federal laws, food safety regulations, and company guidelines; report illegal activity.
- Support team members and assist in other warehouse areas as needed.
Requirements
- Ability to develop and train team members, build relationships, and manage warehouse operations efficiently.
- Strong customer service skills and clear, concise communication.
- Experience operating warehouse equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks, scanners).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse environment with exposure to cold temperatures and moving equipment.
- Warehouse, retail, or customer service experience preferred.
- Basic proficiency with handheld scanners, desktop computers, and calculators.
Physical Demands
- Walking/standing on concrete for up to 10 hours per day.
- Frequent turning, reaching, stooping, and bending.
- Pushing/pulling objects weighing 500 to 1,500 lbs.
- Frequently lifting/carrying objects over 60 lbs.
