Assistant Facility Manager, Night Shift Supervisor - Krannert Center for the Performing Arts

About the role

The Assistant Facility Manager (Night Shift Supervisor) supports the safe, efficient, and effective operation of Krannert Center during evening and overnight hours. This position supervises attendants, extra-help employees, and student workers; coordinates facility readiness for performances, events, classes, and public use; responds to operational and emergency issues; and helps maintain building readiness, staffing support, and operational continuity. Current opening schedule is Tuesday-Saturday, 2 PM-11 PM.

Responsibilities

  • Staff supervision, scheduling, and work coordination, including supervising attendants, extra-help employees, and student workers assigned to building operations functions.
  • Leads shift meetings to communicate expectations, review priorities, and coordinate work.
  • Develops daily and weekly work plans and coordinates work across shifts.
  • Provides leadership to attendants in the use of departmental technology systems related to building scheduling and operations.
  • Assigns and directs custodial, housekeeping, room support, and related operational activities.
  • Schedules extra-help staff and reviews time records.
  • Applies University policies, labor agreements, and departmental procedures.
  • Event support, training, and facility readiness, including identifying training needs for attendants and coordinating training related to cleaning products, cleaning methods, safety practices, OSHA requirements, CPR, and other operational needs.
  • Coordinates and oversees facility conversions, room set-ups, and operational support for performances, receptions, luncheons, meetings, classes, and other events.
  • Inventory, supplies, and operational support, including overseeing the storage, condition, and availability of equipment, supplies, and materials needed to support public events and daily operations.
  • Emergency response and alarm responsibilities, including initiating emergency notification and evacuation procedures when front-of-house staff are not present and applying the building emergency response plan and public address system appropriately.
  • Maintenance coordination and building service support, including monitoring building conditions and helping coordinate outside services needed to support the repair, upkeep, and safe operation of the facility.
  • Other duties as assigned, including performing other related duties as assigned in support of building operations, consistent with the needs of the department.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Any one or combination totaling three (3) years (36 months) from the categories below:
    • College course work in facility management, operations management, or a closely related field.
    • Training from a vocational, technical, or an armed forces program which includes building operations such as coordination of building maintenance, construction management, hospitality, or closely related experience.
    • Work experience which includes building operations such as coordination of building maintenance and work orders, construction management, hospitality, or closely related experience.
    • One (1) year (12 months) of supervisory or administrative experience which includes building operations such as coordination of building maintenance and work orders, construction management, hospitality, or closely related experience.

Skills

  • Ability to remain calm under pressure, exercise sound judgment, and respond effectively in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Ability to work independently, show initiative, and make timely and accurate decisions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective interaction with students, faculty, patrons, building operations staff, maintenance personnel, vendors, and purchasing personnel.
  • Ability to learn, use, and help lead adoption of departmental technology systems related to building scheduling and operations.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

Ability to move up to 50 pounds, move throughout the facility and climb stairs and ladders as needed, and remain in a stationary position for extended periods when operational needs require it.

Pay

The budgeted salary range for the position is $57,000-$65,000 annually.

Schedule

This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 2378 - Facility Operations Coordinator position, appointed on a 12-month basis, with a current opening schedule of Tuesday-Saturday, 2 PM-11 PM.
