About the Role

This management position oversees banquet and event service operations, ensuring high-quality service delivery and guest satisfaction. The role involves coordinating with chefs, stewards, and event planning teams to execute flawless events while managing financial and administrative duties.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates service needs to chefs and stewards throughout functions.
  • Totals charges for group functions and prepares/presents checks for payment.
  • Verifies banquet rooms, restaurants, and coffee breaks are ready for service, including proper centerpieces, cleanliness, and presentation of china, glass, and silver.
  • Checks in with guests to verify satisfaction and addresses special meal requirements, allergies, dietary needs, and requests.
  • Sets tables according to event type and service standards; maintains cleanliness of work areas.
  • Supports compliance with brand standards and legal obligations.
  • Leads shift teams to provide consistent, high-quality service, including daily stand-up meetings, pre-shift meetings, and pre/post-meal briefings.
  • Communicates performance expectations and trains staff in processes.
  • Assists senior managers in financial and administrative duties.
  • Strives to improve guest/event satisfaction and maximize financial performance.
  • Verifies meeting/event rooms are set according to event documentation and customer requirements.
  • Actively participates in servicing events and reinforces all standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintains inventory of function room amenities and controllable supplies.
  • Attends and participates in pertinent meetings (e.g., Daily Stand Up, BEO, Staff, Forecast, Department).
  • Conducts pre-event inspections to ensure rooms meet specifications.
  • Delegates tasks to ensure timely room setups and adherence to Event Management Standards.
  • Manages departmental inventories, assets, and equipment maintenance.
  • Orders supplies (e.g., china, glass, silver, buffet equipment).
  • Schedules Banquet and Event Service staff to meet forecast and service standards while maximizing profits.
  • Utilizes banquet beverage tools to control liquor costs and manage inventory.
  • Executes brand-specific meeting services programs (e.g., Redcoat Program, PlumPerfect Program).
  • Assists the Event Technology/Audio Visual team to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Works with the Event Planning team to verify flawless event delivery.
  • Holds teams to high work standards while modeling those standards.
  • Ensures knowledge of OSHA regulations is up-to-date.
  • Fosters a hotel environment emphasizing motivation, empowerment, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Participates in department meetings and communicates departmental goals.
  • Develops and implements corrective action plans.
  • Encourages excellent customer service and handles guest problems/complaints.
  • Interacts with guests to obtain feedback and improve service levels.
  • Identifies developmental needs of staff and coaches/mentors to improve skills.
  • Participates in employee performance appraisals and supports training.
  • Assists in interviewing and hiring team members with appropriate skills.
  • Schedules employees to ensure shift coverage and meet business demands.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED, or 2-year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major; plus 2 years of experience in food and beverage, culinary, guest services, front desk, housekeeping, or related professional area.
  • OR no standard educational background, but at least 3 years of experience in two of the following areas: food and beverage, culinary, guest services, front desk, housekeeping, or related professional area.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience running a shift, scheduling, and performance management.
  • Problem-solving skills and experience in day-to-day hospitality operations.

Pay

$25.96–$34.62 per hour, with bonus eligibility.
