Job Duties

  • Design and prepare plans, calculations, and specifications for transportation structures, including highway bridges, retaining walls, box culverts, and other miscellaneous structures per AASHTO and ODOT requirements.
  • Provide analysis and load rating for existing structures and recommend improvement and strengthening strategies through knowledge and application of appropriate specifications, standards, and design criteria.
  • Collaborate with other professionals from various departments and disciplines and discuss requirements with clients to execute projects.
  • Perform work as part of a team or as a task/project manager, in accordance with the project budget and schedule limitations under moderate supervision.
  • Prepare engineering cost estimates, the scope of work documents, and proposals and assist other Project/Task Managers with similar duties.
  • Provide leadership and technical guidance to the project team to ensure quality technical services.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with quality control standards and client requirements.
  • Participate in occasional site visits in construction sites and remote outdoor work environments.
  • Occasional travel to client meetings and site visits with possible overnight stays.

Technical Responsibilities

  • Assigns tasks to other technical and non-technical staff.
  • Predominantly plans and coordinates detailed aspects of the engineering work.
  • Prepares scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments.
  • Affords assistance with proposals to provide professional services or obtain funding for engineering projects or projects.

Management Responsibility

  • Receives supervision and guidance relating to overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters.
  • Receives direction on unusual conditions and developments.
  • Mentor direct reports and other engineers.
  • Demonstrates professional attitudes relevant to the practice of engineering, including creativity, curiosity, flexibility, and dependability.

Communication Skills

  • Possesses advanced oral and written communication skills, including interpretation of complex technical and contractual language.
  • Considers the needs of diverse project stakeholders.
  • Led project meetings and represents the organization in communications pertaining to broad aspects of engineering assignments.
  • Analyzes and selects principles of formal communication, effective teamwork, and various pathways to developing leadership.

Qualifications

  • Education: Required - Bachelors or better in Engineering.
  • Experience: Required - Obtain or maintain Professional Engineer reciprocity in multiple states. Experience in bridge/transportation structural engineering 20 years: Years of relevant experience.
  • Licenses & Certifications: Required - Driver's License. Professional Engineer License, reciprocity in multiple states.
