About the role

The position is anticipated to be filled by an Assistant Electrical Lead within the Operations Department, specifically in the Electrical division. Nomad Global Communication Solutions is a leading provider of communication and response products, and we are seeking an internal candidate for this role.

Essential Functions / Responsibility

  • Ensure safety, efficiency, and delivery goals are met in the absence of the Electrical Team Lead.
  • Determine schedules, sequences, and assignments for work activities based on work priority, equipment quantity, and personnel skill level.
  • Inspect and monitor work areas, tools, and equipment, and provide safety training to prevent, detect, and correct unsafe conditions or violations of procedures and safety rules.
  • Monitor team members' compliance with production schedules and review workmanship to ensure it meets Nomad standards.
  • Assemble, install, test, or maintain 120/240V AC and 12/24V DC electrical systems or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, or fixtures, using hand tools or power tools.
  • Test electrical systems or continuity of AC and DC circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, or oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of the system.
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning AC and 12V systems, apparatus, or components, using visual inspection and test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
  • Inspect and test AC and 12V electrical systems and equipment to locate and diagnose malfunctions, using visual inspections, testing devices, and computer software.
  • Diagnose and/or repair problems with electrical equipment, such as lights, relays, battery isolators, generators, and leveling systems.
  • Run wires and cables for AC and DC systems and controls.
  • Use a variety of tools or equipment, such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment, such as oscilloscopes, ammeters, or test lamps.

Basic Knowledge Desired

  • Ability to lead and work collaboratively with others.
  • Understanding of Nomad production processes.
  • Mechanical — machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Design — design techniques, tools, and principals involved in the production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Customer and Personal Service — principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
  • Troubleshooting — determining causes of operating errors in electrical systems and deciding what to do about it.
  • Systems Evaluation — identifying measures or indicators of system performance and quality and the actions needed to improve or correct performance, relative to the goals of the system.
  • Innovative, self-starter, dependable, and able to respond quickly and accurately on multiple priorities.
  • Strong PC skills and knowledge of E2, Excel, Word, etc.
  • Good communication, organizational, and time management skills.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly use hands and arms to finger, handle, feel, reach, or operate objects, tools, or controls.
  • Frequently stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl.
  • Frequently lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move items weighing more than 50 pounds.
  • Use close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to distinguish individual colors.
  • Work from heights up to 20 feet.

Qualifications & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1+ years of experience at Nomad GCS required.
  • 2+ years of experience in 12V and 120V electrical experience OR 2 years of experience in 12V and 120V electrical experience outside of Nomad GCS AND secondary education certification specific to electrical.
  • 2+ years of experience diagnosing and troubleshooting electrical circuitry.
  • 2+ years of experience reading and following CAD.
  • Ability to train and mentor other team members.
