About the role
The assistant dispatcher works alongside the Dispatcher/Operations Manager to direct and coordinate the ordering and delivery of materials to customers in daily operations.
Responsibilities
- Maintain receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
- Comply with federal, state, and local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements and enforce adherence.
- Complete warehouse/delivery requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; follow up on work results.
- Coordinate with personnel to ensure service meets acceptable standards and generates positive customer feedback.
- Ensure compliance with the Safety and Loss Control Program.
- Cooperate with the Safety director and GMS Risk Management representatives in the investigation and analysis of potential hazards to enforce methods and reduce loss claims.
Requirements
- GED required; some college preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of dispatching experience.

Physical Requirements
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 60% of the time.

Pay
The base salary for this position typically falls within the range of $20.00 to $25.00 per hour. Starting wage may vary based on factors including position, location, education, training, and/or experience. Hourly associates may be eligible for overtime based on business needs.
