About the role

This is a highly visible position responsible for increasing awareness and building enthusiasm for Mercy College through student recruitment initiatives, outreach and communication, and specialized events. The Assistant Director develops partnerships with high schools, counselors, and local college preparatory organizations as well as manages a team of recruiters responsible for freshmen admissions. The Assistant Director oversees the daily operations of the Dobbs Ferry campus freshmen team including the recruitment calendar, campus tours, and schedules. The Assistant Director generates inquiries from prospective students that convert to enrolled students. 70% of the role involves on-road recruitment activities, focusing on the territories assigned to the Dobbs Ferry recruitment team.

Responsibilities

  • Represent Mercy College at recruitment events, college fairs, high schools, and community outreach programs to attract potential students and promote the institution's academic offerings and benefits.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with high school counselors, community organizations, and other stakeholders to foster partnerships and increase awareness of Mercy College.
  • Conduct engaging information sessions for prospective students and their families to provide comprehensive insights into the college's academic programs, support services, and campus life.
  • Offer guidance and assistance to prospective students throughout the admission process, ensuring they have access to all necessary resources and information.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student inquiries, applications, and admissions-related data using the college's student information systems and CRM tools.
  • Assist in planning and executing admission-related events, such as open houses, admitted student days, and orientation programs.
  • Collaborate with the financial aid office to provide information on available scholarships, grants, and other financial assistance programs to prospective students.
  • Contribute to the achievement of enrollment goals by actively participating in the strategic planning and execution of admission initiatives.
  • Oversee daily operations for a staff, including recruitment calendar and campus tours.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, written and oral communication, problem-solving, coaching, organizational, and presentation skills.
  • Strong and inspirational communication skills, vibrant personality, attention to detail, and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated evidence of sales orientation, creativity, and enthusiasm.
  • Ability to demonstrate competitive nature, self-direction, motivation, and a sense of urgency to achieve goals.
  • Proven resiliency in maintaining a spirited approach to recruitment.
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office and Outlook; ability to learn new software.
  • Ability to travel on a daily basis and work weekends and evenings.
