Assistant Director - SIUE Futures (CS27-039)
Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) seeks an Assistant Director for SIUE Futures to advance its mission of social and economic mobility and workforce development. About the Role
The Assistant Director bridges executive vision and daily operations for K-12 programs on the Belleville and East St. Louis campuses, both alongside and in the absence of the director. SIUE Futures programs serve youth ages 6–18, offering curricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular opportunities focused on academic readiness, leadership development, and service learning. Participants engage with faculty, staff, and undergraduates, fostering a sense of belonging as future SIUE students.
Responsibilities
- Supervise program staff and student employees.
- Contribute to strategic planning and program development.
- Conduct workshops and information sessions.
- Oversee administrative processes for SIUE Futures programs.
- Coordinate community partnerships with school districts and youth-serving organizations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (required).
- One year (12 months) of experience in education, training, or a related specialization (Master’s degree in a relevant field may substitute for one year of experience).
- Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Psychology, Public Administration, Elementary/Secondary Education, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in community and/or educational outreach.
- 1+ years of experience in an education setting (e.g., classroom teaching or youth-serving organizations).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree.
- Supervisory experience.
- Experience in public service with a proven record of effective engagement with children and families.
Additional Information
This is a Civil Service position classified under SUCSS Classification Number 5002. Out-of-state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 days of hire (proof of valid Illinois Driver’s License or state ID required). Pre-employment screening includes a criminal background check, employment/education verification, and reference checks. SIUE does not provide visa sponsorship for this role, and F-1/J-1 visa holders are ineligible for permanent civil service positions.
