About the role

Brenau University seeks a full-time professional to oversee student engagement programs and services, specifically Greek Life and affinity groups.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a full-time professional and oversee the vision, operation, and assessment of student engagement programs and services, specifically Greek Life and affinity groups
  • Participate, as a member of the professional staff, in the University on-call rotation that responds to student issues and emergencies during business hours, as well as nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Support departmental or institutional projects/programs, including University events and traditions and perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Undergraduate Engagement, Assistant Vice President/Dean of Students, and/or Vice President for Student Development and Engagement
  • Contribute to the holistic development of students across communities through programs, events, leadership development, and membership
  • Compose various types of communication, reports, and create promotional materials and presentations to encourage student engagement
  • Provide administrative oversight and strategic direction to the Brenau University Greek Life community, consisting of eight (8) sororities and two (2) governing councils
  • Advise Greek Council, Panhellenic Council, National Pan-Hellenic Council, Inc., Order of Omega, Rho Lambda, and Gamma Sigma Alpha and provide oversight for the planning and execution of Greek Gala, Greek Week, Greek Awards Banquet, and assisting in the planning of individual sorority activities
  • Oversee compliance issues, education, training, and housing relevant to Greek organizations (i.e., annual mandatory anti-hazing workshop, alcohol and drug education, recruitment and membership intakes, Title IX, etc.)
  • Serve as liaison and administrative contact for the state, regional, and national headquarters of the eight (8) sororities and two (2) governing councils, as well as chapter advisors
  • Establish and maintain trusting relationships with all constituents including members, parents, alumni, volunteers, fraternity and sorority headquarters, faculty, staff, administrators, and vendors
  • Provide oversight, planning, and communications for student efforts to serve in the larger Brenau community

Qualifications

  • Education – Bachelor’s degree required (student development, counseling, or related field preferred)
  • Experience – Experience in Greek Life, student life/affairs/engagement, and advising student organizations; experience working with diverse populations and multiple functional areas within a higher education setting
  • Skills & Abilities – Strong interpersonal communication skills (oral/written), effective listening, and student advocacy skills; ability to make sound decisions; strong organizational skills; knowledge of assessment practices including the development of learning outcomes and producing reports; knowledge of specific trends and issues affecting student life and student engagement; ability to incorporate principles of belonging and social justice into decision making
  • Supervisory Responsibilities – Advise student leaders, student groups and organizations; strong presentation, organization, retreat planning, and supervision/management skills. Provide direction for Greek Life, affinity groups and support the Director in the implementation of University traditions

  • Must be committed to teamwork and be able to work with all departments and personnel of the University, as well as demonstrate ability to work/collaborate with internal/external constituents and foster positive and productive relationships
