Assistant Director of Social Media
Job Summary
Working independently and exercising good judgment and discretion, this position would oversee the ongoing development and performance of Club Sports social media sites and networks as well as digital creative content creation for those platforms. The person performing this role will understand, follow, and disseminate Liberty University policies regarding the use of social media and monitor all aspects related to Club Sports.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
- Lead the strategy, creation, and management of social media content for Men’s DI Hockey and Club Sports department accounts (Facebook, Instagram, and X).
- Including but not limited to live game coverage, photography, graphics, video, and weekly digital content.
- Manage and coordinate with student staff, interns, and contributors assisting with social media, content creation, and game-day operations.
- Including but not limited to scheduling, mentorship, evaluations, and professional development.
- Develop content calendars and collaborate with Marketing, Media, Academic Integration, and creative staff to plan and execute promotional campaigns and branding initiatives.
- Monitor social media trends, analytics, and emerging technologies to improve fan engagement, digital performance, and overall brand presence.
- Support game-day operations through social media promotion, sponsorship activations, fan engagement, and preparation of digital and promotional assets.
- Aid in video production, graphic design coordination, and creative storytelling across Club Sports platforms.
- Travel with Men’s DI Hockey and support additional Club Sports teams and events as needed.
- Contribute to maintaining Club Sports digital platforms, supporting the accuracy, timeliness, and consistency of website and promotional content.
- Collaborate with campus partners and external sponsors to support creative promotions and enhance the overall game day atmosphere.
- Support social media efforts through Academic Integration, including assisting with meetings, communication, and guidance for student interns managing team accounts.
- Maintain organized files, timelines, and tracking documents to support efficient workflow and execution of initiatives.
- Represent Club Sports in a professional and positive manner, working collaboratively with staff, students, and external partners.
- Absorb and support events during evenings and weekends and support additional responsibilities as assigned.
- Work in Concessions as needed throughout the year.
- Complete necessary University trainings to stay in compliance.
- Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s mission.
- Remains abreast of existing and emerging technologies, processes, products, services and leading industry performance benchmarks.
- Strictly adheres to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner.
- Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s Christian model and Mission – Training Champions for Christ.
Qualifications And Credentials
- Four-year college degree, with a concentration in graphic design, marketing, business or sport management, 2+ years in a marketing function;
- Strong social media experience required.
- Well-developed communications and interpersonal skills required.

- Communication and Comprehension Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well articulated information.
- Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner.
- Possess public communication skills that allow professional representation of Liberty University.
- Strong organizational skills.

- Problem Solving Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled setting. It is well lighted, and the noise level is moderate. Working environment may include facilitation of events outdoors or in loud indoor arenas.
Driving Requirements
- If the employee is required to travel in performing the duties and responsibilities of the position, the use of one’s personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) may be required for travel.
- Proof of a valid driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, LU Driving Approval, and liability insurance is required when driving in the performance of the employee’s position.
- To obtain LU-approved driver certification, individuals must be 21 years of age or older, possess a valid driver’s license with a minimum of five (5) years of documented driving history, and maintain a clean driving record.
